There are way too many “I’m going to kill myself” videos circulating Tumblr right now.
Guys, for fuck’s sake, most of you are not even sixteen years old - the amount of times I told a twenty-three year old that he was still a baby the other day was completely ridiculous, and you people are EIGHT YEARS YOUNGER THAN THAT, but you think you can just go and kill yourselves when you haven’t even lived a quarter of your lives yet? I’m sorry, that is quite frankly appalling, and here is why:
Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
Yes, you may feel awful now. Yes, some of you may have serious mental illnesses and I understand the seriousness of these, and I would encourage you to get help (because it is possible to work on and even fix mental issues, guys, come on) - but some of you are wanting to END YOUR LIVES because “everyone in my life has turned against me”, “no-one likes me”, “my boyfriend was my world and now he’s gone” and even, “anonymous people are bullying me on Tumblr”.
Listen to me.

I’m not going to pussyfoot around you or sugarcoat anything because that’s not how I work. I don’t feel sorry for you and I’m not going to pretend that I do. YOU ARE BABIES. I AM A BABY STILL. PEOPLE IN THEIR TWENTIES ARE STILL BABIES. THERE IS SO MUCH OF LIFE LEFT TO LIVE, IT IS NOT EVEN COMPREHENSIBLE.You have a job lined up for you later in life, maybe several jobs. You have marriage, probably, and children, and then later on you have grandchildren. You have wedding pictures to look forward to, and holidays with your friends when you finish high school or during uni, or after uni, or all of the above! You have parties and road trips and getting drunk and maybe some acid trips, and music festivals, and drunken instagram photos from nights you certainly don’t remember. You have the feeling of falling irrevocably in love with someone you’re never going to forget. You have stargazing and birthdays and your favourite songs and your favourite bands playing in your favourite venues.
Please, for the love of fucking everything, if the reason you are considering killing yourself is something that you won’t care about in five years (hell, probably six months’) time then TAKE A STEP BACK AND RECONSIDER. Take that video down from YouTube, realise that teenage years suck for most people, and that rumours get spread about you, and that you feel ugly sometimes, and that your parents are Nazis, and school is shit, and blah blah blah BUT THEN YOU GROW UP AND NONE OF IT MATTERS.
Suicide is not a trend.
Suicide is not something you can come back from.
When you kill yourself you’re fucking dead.
Do you even understand what that means?
No, you’re sixteen.You have so much to look forward to.
